This was made as for a drawing assignment. The topic was Beauty and Decay. You could choose to illustrate one or both of those words into an image using the medium of your choice.
I'd had an idea growing in my head for a while now that I though fit perfectly into the project description.
There is an old woman named Ye, she was born and raised in Africa until in her early teens she immigrated to America (for what reason I do not know) She grew old here, never quite getting into the swing of things, always longing to go back to her Africa but never having the money to do so and with her age, plane travel is simply too strenuous. She has outlived her friends and her twin brother Yao who died many years ago, and she grows older and older.
In her old age, with her body withering away her imagination becomes a bigger and bigger part of her reality. Her mind transforms the concrete walls of cities in to massive trees, open roads to golden plains. Everything blurs away into a skewed vision of reality where Africa comes to her.
