Sybil + trinkets by ricochet188 Sybil + trinkets by ricochet188
Sybil and a number of her possessions. She is an adventurer she took off from her home over a year ago and has since been wandering outward basking in the open wilderness and barren plains of her world. She enjoys her solitude and takes pleasure in the smallest of things. She collects interesting artifacts and keeps them in her various pouches and bags. She carries little in the way of necessities. She has and extra shirt and pair of pants and some shoes but she rarely wears them. she finds food on her travels and sleeps under the stars. She carries a grenade launcher. yeah. It's for defense though she prefers not to use it. It is only for the most dire of circumstances. Make no mistake there are dangerous things out there. She started off with 6 grenades now she only has 3.

She actively chronicles her adventure in a withering journal, she is running out of room so her writing has decreased in size to the point that it is necessary to use a glass to read it.

Her most prized possession is her video camera, she takes excellent care of it, keeping it maintained and clean as best as possible. It is wound by a crank on the side and uses a special type of film that can be re-used.

She also owns an audio recorder that takes max 2 minute sound clips and imprints them on record style discs, the disks are made of a malleable plasticy substance that can be smoothed out with some effort for re use.

Her welding tool is used for maintaining the grenade launcher and also in fire starting among other things. When it runs out of power she must re charge it by rotating the copper cylinder on it's top for a while at at time. She has a number of welding rods to use but when she runs out she will still be able to use the welder to start fires, just not solder anything.

-----------

a few of the objects are dis proportioned like the audio recorder and the camera and her shoes, but the rest are to scale I think.

Great idea - the audio recorder looks like the Voxophone from Bioshock Infinite though :D
Hope to read more about her adventures in the future :3

I've got to ask, where do you find the inspiration to come up with such unique, compelling characters? I especially like the design of the makeshift grenade launcher, reminds me a bit about the one that's in Bioshock 1.

Either way, great work.

I dunno, I just take themes I'm interested in and try to make characters to enact them. With this young lady for example, I was intrigued by vast fantastical landscapes coupled with aimless wandering in the company of ones-self. I'm also interested in objects, structures, clothing, things in general and so she is interested in those things too and they come into play in her world.

Then once you've got that down you just throw in a brief genesis story for the character(s) and you're good to go.

Well either way, I'm pretty amazed by the level of detail that went into this character and her clothing. The 'skirt belt' thing is a pretty smart idea, allowing her to carry multiple pouches for quick and easy access. Oh, what function does her sleeves offer, if any? Just noticed them while writing this.

I'm not sure, honestly this is an old design for her, I don't like most of the stuff she's wearing and I've ditched the whole grenade launcher thing. The sleeves may have been one half of some sort of shirt. Like in the 1500's it wasn't uncommon to be able to untie your sleeves from your jacket (shirt... thing?)

Video camera looks like the movie camera my parents had many years ago.  If I remember correctly, it used 8mm film.

The details on your drawing are very well done; good job!
